Chitosan-clay nanocomposite as a drug delivery system of ibuprofen

Chitosan/montmorillonite nanocomposite films were prepared by the solvent evaporation method to immobilize drug ibuprofen (IBU) and delay its release in a medium that simulates environment of gastrointestinal tract. The effects montmorillonite, at different mass proportions (10, 20, 50%), on morphological physical properties studied. samples characterized X-ray diffraction (XRD), Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), degree swelling, encapsulation, efficiency. According XRD it was evidenced incorporation montmorillonite chitosan led formation nanocomposites ordered morphology. infrared spectra confirmed good interaction between nanocomposites. This fact, which favored imprisonment IBU, reduced diffusion coefficient studied systems. micrographs comproved dense uniform films. controlled profile, especially for with 10% clay mass, showed slow rate. produced morphologies, encapsulation efficiency an adequate profile drug.
